Reel Canadian Outdoors

The young entrepreneur behind Reel Canadian Outdoors (RCO) grew up hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.  Although there are many large, outdoor apparel companies in the market, he noticed a lack of quality lifestyle gear – created by an original brand – that could make the transition from home to field. His apparel is targeted at outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy comfortable, practical clothing with youthful style. 

THE ASK

The owner approached us for help creating a new logo that would be used on all his apparel. The ultimate goal of this start-up is to build an outdoor apparel company with brand recognition throughout BC, and we were happy to provide brand consulting to this small business and help it launch!

THE WORK

Reel provided us with a picture of a hunting dog as the starting point for their new logo design. Our team took it from there, designing a primary logo, secondary mark (an RCO badge), and custom artwork in a modern vintage style, with an inky stamp texture and earthy colour palette to convey a classic camp feel. We also designed stickers to accompany orders as giveaways.  

For the custom illustration, which features a fisherman, we added one of the owner’s favourite sayings, “Log off. Shut down. Get outside.” to give the artwork more impact – and when we delivered the designs, we showed him how his new brands assets could be used on everything from vehicle graphics to clothing.

Currently, Reel gear is sold online and at a local sporting goods store – it’s been fun to help launch this passionate local brand that believes Reel life starts outside!
