Delta School District aims high – by 2030, their goal is to become “an innovative, inclusive community where all learners belong and everyone soars”.
Delta School District is home to 24 elementary and seven secondary schools located across the three communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta. Ranking highly in student and parent satisfaction surveys, the district’s graduation rates are among the highest in BC, and their students consistently rate near the top of the annual Foundation Skills Assessment tests.
THE ASK
Like many school districts, Delta had busy communications staff, but no design department. As a result, they had a limited number of brand assets and lacked a cohesive approach to their visual representation. Indalma was asked to help them develop a simple style guide that would give the team some guidelines for producing material with a consistent brand identity. From there, we are continuing to provide graphic design services to help them build – piece-by-piece – a district-wide visual identity.
THE WORK
Indalma’s extensive experience developing material for a local independent school allowed us to quickly respond to the school district’s needs as they began to see the benefits of working with a design team. Concepts like diversity and inclusion were second nature to us when it came to visual representation, along with designing for a range of audiences within an educational brand.
Our design work for the district has been wide-ranging: a strategic plan, a wellness guide, email templates for workshops – even a 25-foot-long interior sign. We’ve helped them present information-dense material to teachers and parents in engaging ways, and we’ve had the fun of designing posters for individual elementary schools. The collaboration is paying off, allowing busy school district staff to concentrate on their core business, elevating their presentation, and making their communication appear more cohesive wherever it appears.
