SUMMER PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
DELTA, BC

Delta Life Skills Society gives children living with disabilities the kind of summer every child deserves. Campers get the support they need to go on weekly outings, engage with their community, and practice essential life skills.

For nearly three decades, the Delta Life Skills Society (DLS) has operated a non-profit summer program for children and youth with special needs. The long summer break can be a challenging time for these children and their families – DLS bridges the gap with a program that offers the stability of a routine, opportunities to continue learning life skills, and the chance to have some summer fun.

THE ASK

DLS is volunteer-led and, as demand for their program grew over the years, so did their need to organize and update their brand visually, and to reorganize their online content into a clear, compelling, and cohesive message. They approached Indalma to help them refresh their caring and child-centred brand, with a wish list that included a new logo and website design.

THE WORK

Our team began by presenting a competitive analysis that showed the branding and messaging approach of similar non-profits, followed by a moodboard with possible colour palettes, typography choices, logo and illustration styles. From there, we were able to help DLS make the strategic decisions that would lead to a new brand and website redesign for the budget-conscious organization.

Indalma redesigned DLS’s logo, and created custom-illustrated icons and patterns that reflected the program’s optimistic, playful, child-centred approach. The new brand assets were applied to collateral such as business cards, letterhead, and rack cards – and in a new website design.

We reorganized the website architecture so that it was easier for parents and staff to navigate. Then, we rewrote the site content in a friendly, conversational tone, explaining the program’s services, mission, application and fundraising processes, and providing more opportunities to donate. In tandem with the website makeover, we helped DLS further streamline their information by rewriting their Parent Handbook and combining two staff handbooks into one. We also created a social media plan for the organization, and produced and managed their content for six months to help them kick-start their year. The deserving non-profit was now refreshed and ready to deliver a summer of fun for the kids and families who need it most!

  • We couldn’t be happier with the transformation of our brand, all in the hands of the Indalma Creative team. Our logo, website, and marketing materials had not been updated in a very long time. The team really listened to what we were looking for across the board – from the feel of our marketing materials, to the design of our logo, to the message we wanted to send on our website. They stayed on track both in terms of time and budget, with the second being really important for a not-for-profit. The end result is beyond anything I could have imagined – and the information in our website is now complete, and gives our users a very clear understanding of what we do, and our expectations of the users of our program.
