CORE Site Solutions provides a complete site solution for infrastructure projects, using the strengths and resources of its three divisions: Springline, Delta Agg, and Greenbelt. With one call, the CORE team can co-ordinate civil construction and earthworks services, heavy equipment rentals, and aggregate production for projects throughout Metro Vancouver and across Western Canada.


THE ASK

To position themselves more competitively, the leadership teams of three successful companies in the heavy construction industry—Springline Construction, Delta Aggregates, and Greenbelt Excavating—were considering consolidating their operations under a master brand. A master brand would formalize something they’d always done behind the scenes—use their entire groups’ expertise and resources to provide clients with the solutions they need.

They invited Indalma to help them explore the idea. Our task was to conduct Discovery sessions with the ownership groups and key employees, make recommendations, and—if it was the right direction for the companies moving forward—help them to build the new master brand.


THE WORK

Over the course of the Discovery sessions, we explored the brand identities of the three existing companies, their challenges, strengths and goals, and began to discuss the ways a master brand might better position the group for the future—from improving their ability to compete for large contracts, to unifying the appearance of employees and equipment on a work site.

Once we determined that a master brand was the way forward, our next steps were to help the owners through the brand naming process, and to develop a master brand structure and identity. We tested possible brand structures for clarity and functionality across a range of scenarios and applications, deciding on a structure that rebranded the former companies as divisions of CORE Site Solutions. Then, the team moved quickly to develop a new logo, colour palette and typography that conveyed key brand attributes such as strength, confidence, energy, and boldness.

The CORE leadership team had targeted the Barnside Harvest Festival in September as their brand launch date, and they reserved a VIP tent to entertain clients over the three-day event, and a reception tent to celebrate with employees on the Friday night.

In preparation for the event, Indalma began to apply the new brand assets to all of the collateral needed for the launch: signage, vehicle graphics, apparel, and promotional materials.

We developed the tagline, “On the ground. In the ground. Moving ground.” to express the company’s capabilities, agility and energy, and paired it with gritty black and white visuals and the new brand colours on signage and in video. A series of email invites were also created to build anticipation for the launch.

Where did we have the most fun applying the new look? On custom beer can labels for a run of Barnside beer created especially for the launch.  

Our team also designed and developed a landing page for CORE’s new website, with more content to come in the future. It was part of a layered approach to building and launching the new brand that considered user touch points at every step.

We’re excited to continue working alongside the CORE team as they take a strategic approach to their growth, and lean into the high-quality, challenging work they’re known for.
